Hospitals prove to be a big winner in annual auction

The annual California and Nevada Credit Unions for Kids Wine Auction at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, just a short distance from Laguna Niguel, recently raised over $1m for the 11 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Nevada and California.

More than 85 credit unions, business partners, and hospitals supported the event, which is the largest fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals every year. Since 2006, more than $4.8m has been raised.

Event chairman, president and CEO of SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, Bill Cheney, commented that this was the second year in a row that over $1m in donations has been raised due to the generosity and efforts of donors, volunteers, and sponsors.

The event had a Diamonds Are Forever/James Bond theme and included dancing, food, and live and silent auctions.

Max Wilford, who is nine years old and a former patient of one of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, was the special guest of the evening. He shared how the hospital changed his life after being able to treat him for his rare and unusually aggressive form of a fairly common brain cancer.

Credit Unions for Kids is the brand under which the credit unions of America raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Flyer printing is one way the organization can increase awareness of its charitable endeavors and how the money raised from such events as this one directly benefit the children’s hospitals.
