The year-long custom burger test conducted by McDonalds apparently went well and will now be introduced in 2,000 of their locations across the country, according to a statement release by the fast food chain in early December.
The ‘Create Your Taste’ menu first appeared at the remodeled Golden Lantern McDonald’s location in Laguna Niguel almost a year ago. It then expanded to the Laz Paz location in Laguna Niguel in August of 2014 in addition to two locations in San Diego.
The ‘Create Your Taste’ menu will be added to 30 restaurants over the several remaining weeks in 2014 with the rest of the 2,000-unit expansion occurring in 2015. The 2,000-store push will take place in California, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The new menu allows McDonald’s customers to construct their own burger by selecting from over 20 upscale ingredients via touch-screen tablet. Choices include caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms, parmesan cheese, and applewood smoked bacon.
The burger takes six minutes to prepare and is delivered open-faced by a server wearing a black and white pin-striped apron. The standard price for the custom built burger ranges from $5.79 to $5.90.
A flyer printing service could be used to familiarizing the public with the options and pricing for the new menu prior to its introduction at a new location.
