What's Happening in Hayward, CA…

Hayward seminar to educate on rent increases and tenant rights

Next month, The City of Hayward will hold the Landlord-Tenant Rights Workshop: Rent Increases to discuss what rent hikes mean for both tenants and landlords, and how both parties can effectively navigate such a situation.

The City of Hayward provides a wide range of resources to its residents in an effort to ensure that the community is fostering a robust and healthy community. These resources may fall along the lines of to how to navigate job opportunities, community guidelines and regulations, and housing services. The workshop happening in April is one such example of how residents can learn about their rights and opportunities.

At the April seminar, attendees will learn the ins-and-outs of rent increases and how they affect both landlords and their tenants. The class will discuss the limits of rent increases annually, how a rent increase must be served, what rent increases mean to lease renewals, and what protections tenants have against retaliatory rent increases.

Community workshops like this are often advertised on printed flyers that can be distributed in the community. Organizers going down this advertising route may seek out local flyer printing shops to prepare their materials.

The rent increase workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. It will be held at Hayward Public Library, located at 888 C Street, or online through Zoom.
