Workshop to refresh on patient transport techniques

Knowing how to transport patients safely is one of ways a healthcare facility can provide a high level of care to its patients, and this will be the focus of an upcoming refresher course.

The Safe Patient Mobilization Refresher available to staff at the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center will allow those who need to provide hands-on patient care with knowledge they can put to use each day in the course of their duties. It will address the topic from the perspective of both the employee and the person for whom they are caring.

The class will be facilitated by physical therapy staff, and everyone will have an opportunity to practice the techniques taught. Repositioning and transfers are just two of the topics that will be covered.

Offering a refresher like this is one of the ways a medical facility can ensure it provides its patients with a high standard of care. Manuals and other learning materials for the occasion may be obtained by contacting a local printing services company.

The date for this continuing education class will be November 17, and it will run from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. It will be held in the Nellie Barrington Room at 751 Medical Center Court.

It was noted that this session is not intended for those who are new to the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. Any interested newcomers are instead asked to register for a session online.
