Crates of fun in store at Chula Vista Lemon Fest

Life handed Chula Vista lemons, so the city made lemonade – barrels of it.

Chula Vista, the self-proclaimed ‘Lemon Capital of the World’, is juicing up for its 23rd annual Lemon Festival early next month.

Zesty activities include live entertainment, a kids’ play-zone, and a craft beer garden, and of course the lemons. Activities include the lemon pie-eating contest, and contests for fastest lemon-peeling and the largest lemon.

The festival pays homage to Chula Vista’s history, when the city and surrounding orchards were the biggest lemon-producing region in the world at the turn of the 20th Century.

The Lemon Festival is put on by the Third Avenue Village Association. According to its website, the festival is an opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves to the more than 45,000 people who attend the festival every year. Chula Vista businesses wanting public exposure can use printing services like banner printing and brochure printing to display at the booths lining the streets during festivals like this.

The kids Festival Fun Zone features a rock wall and bungee rides. Adults looking for something harder than lemonade can quench their thirst at the Craft Beer Garden with a Meyer Lemon Sculpin from the Ballast Point Brewing Co.

The Chula Vista Lemon Festival is on Sunday, August 4 and runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Third Avenue from E to G Streets.
