Residents of Chula Vista have been invited to lend their support to an effort that will both help local animals and also people in the developing world.
The community’s animal shelter has organized a shoe drive to help it raise funds to care for the homeless, stray, and lost animals it looks after. People are asked to drop off their gently used shoes at either the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility or the City of Chula Vista Conservation Department. They will be collected and shipped to projects in developing countries, where they will be repaired and sold to others who need them.
According to the organizers, the goal is to raise funds to help animals, to collect footwear to help people and also to keep shoes out of area landfills. Flyers and other Promotional Products can be posted throughout the area to help ensure that as many members of the public as possible are aware it is taking place so they can lend their support to the effort.
Donations of new or gently used shoes will be accepted at the two drop-off points until May 2. They can be found at 130 Beyer Way and 276 Fourth Avenue, building C. For anyone who is interested in finding out more about the event, or the organization hosting it, this can be found on the community’s website.
