Chula Vista invited to explore area gardens

Chula Vista gardeners and anyone who appreciates a beautiful landscape design may want to reserve their tickets well in advance for an area activity.

The annual SDHS/APLD horticultural tour will offer a sneak peek behind the garden gate. Early bird sales will begin in mid-January, and this year's theme is “Sustainable Beauty”.

The activity will showcase gardens that have been designed so that they support all Forms of life, from the bacteria and fungi in the soil to plants, animals, and people. The properties visited will feature eco-friendly enhancements that add to the beauty of a garden, and these range from the thoughtful incorporation of native plants to the use of rainwater capture and preserving habitats for wildlife. Each stop on the tour will be unique, and the organizers hope to inspire everyone who gets involved.

To help make the event possible, the planners have put out a call for volunteers. Those who do so will receive free entry to the various gardens. A company that prepares custom Corporate Gifts can craft T-Shirts and other gear for those helping out with an activity to wear, and these may be printed with a group’s logo or other graphic design.

The SDHS/APLD Garden Tour will kick off at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 29. Early bird tickets go on sale on January 15, and a full description of the locations will be provided to registrants.
