Chula Vista invited to have its say about urban agriculture

Chula Vista is considering making some changes and updates to its policies surrounding urban agriculture, and it is interested in hearing the public’s opinion on the matter.

In an effort to educate locals about the issue, the city has planned a screening of Growing Cities, which is a documentary about how people living in the city can still grow some of their own food. After the film, there will be a panel discussion, which will include representatives from area community gardens, landscape architects, small farms, and more.

Those who attend he evening’s presentation will be able to ask questions and have them answered, and share any other input about the topic they might have. It is all part of the city’s Healthy Chula Vista Initiative, which includes a set of policies and practices that will make it easier for residents to make healthier lifestyle choices. The information gathered from the public will be used to help craft strategies that can help to make this happen. Newsletter printing can be used by a community to keep its members up to date on the latest events, such as this one, that are taking place in their area.

The information session will take place on September 19, starting at 5:30 pm in the Civic Center Library. The city’s website contains additional details for anyone who would like to know more.
