Sewing can be a valuable skill to have, and a class that will provide the basis of doing so will soon be welcoming learners from Chula Vista and the surrounding area.
San Diego Craft Collective wants to help people learn how to perform simple sewing tasks, and its Family and Beginners Sewing session will give them a chance to do this. There are two dates to choose from.
Hannah Gioutlos will be sharing her expertise. The group of attendees will be taught the ins and outs of machine sewing, including how to wind a thread bobbin. Threading different machine types will be covered, and troubleshooting tips are also on the agenda. Each participate will practice their new skills by making a pillowcase, and should bring along their own machine from home if they have one, although a limited number will be available to borrow.
The activity is for those age seven and up. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
A sewing or other skill-building class may be a welcome opportunity for community members to learn something new. A flyer printing company can help to spread the word.
This introduction to the basics of machine sewing is set to begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 17 at 2590 Truxtun Road in San Diego. It will be offered again on December 15, which is also a Friday.
