Chula Vista area workshop planned for military families

Making the switch from a military career to “civvy street” can sometimes be challenging for both the member and their family, and a short course is on offer near Chula Vista that can help families adapt.

The event will address a variety of topics that may be of interest to the families that will be participating, and several agencies have come on board for the occasion. They will offer presentations, host question and answer sessions, and offer plenty of time for networking.

Health Care, financial planning, retraining and other educational choices, employment, and understanding the various VA benefits are just a few of the subjects that are on the agenda. To help make the occasion as accessible as possible, childcare will be available for kids who are age two and over, and both breakfast and lunch will be served to all the attendees.

The organizers noted that one of their goals is to arm the families who come out with information and other resources they can use to make informed decisions and support their transitioning military member. Brochure printing and other services for an occasion like this can be provided by an area Print shop.

This free event is open to anyone who is interested, and it has been scheduled for October 16 at 10791 Tierrasanta Blvd in San Diego. More information can be obtained by contacting the San Diego Military Family Collaborative through its website.
