Carlsbad vets aim to make life better for animals at Camp Pendleton
A veterinary clinic in Carlsbad is putting its hand in for the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter, and is hoping that the public will be willing to pitch in and help too.
The Carlsbad Animal Hospital is collecting supplies that can be put to use at the facility, which cares for abandoned and unwanted pets. It is looking for donations of pet food, animal crates and carriers, blankets, treats, cat litter, pet beds, gently used pet toys, scratching posts and any other items that can be used to look after small animals. Flyers can be distributed throughout the community to help make people aware of the supply collection drive.
The shelter, which is located on Marine base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, protects domestic animals and also enforces the base regulations that have been enacted around pet ownership. Its staff helps to rescue injured, abused, sick, and unwanted animals and it also places those that have in its care into loving homes.
The veterinarians and other staff at the animal hospital remarked that they are pleased to be able to help support the marines in this program, as it helps make it possible for military families to enjoy the love and companionship of a pet. All that are adopted are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before they are adopted.
Donations can be dropped off at the Carlsbad Animal Hospital at 2739 State Street until the end of January.
