Carlsbad gardeners invited to skill-building session
An event is set to welcome Carlsbad budding gardeners, and it will offer them a convenient way to add to their horticultural skills.
The ABC’s to Starting a Garden seminar being hosted by Sand n’ Straw Community Fam will teach the fundamentals of gardening from the ground floor up. It will start with the importance of using a fertile growing medium, and go on from there.
The workshop will introduce both seed starting and saving techniques that can be used with an assortment of veggies, fruit and flowers, and alternatives to traditional soil blends will be discussed as well. Overall maintenance, plant selection, care and culture and harvesting the crop are all on the agenda, and the attendees will have time to ask questions and share their own tips with the group. The class price is $35, and it will run for one and a half hours.
Those who register for this sort of activity often want to learn as much as they can. Gardeners’ journals, horticultural calendars, and chore checklists paired with promotional pens may be prepared to give out to the attendees by area stationery printers.
Sand n’ Straw Community Farm has added this event to its autumn calendar, and it will be held on September 11. Everyone who feels it is of interest to them is welcome, and it will begin at 10:00 am.
