What's Happening in Carlsbad, CA…

Carlsbad class to craft recycled paper

Recycled paper can be both pretty and practical, offering a fun way to help reduce the amount of waste ending up in area landfills, and a class in Carlsbad will introduce the process of preparing this material.

The hands-on session will teach the basics of preparing paper using waste materials. Everyone will craft molded sheets of paper they can take home, and the class is for those aged 12 and up. There are enough spaces in the activity to accommodate up to 10 participants.

During the session, attendees will learn how to prepare the pulp they will use, and they will also find out how to tint it to the color of their choice. The finished product can be used to make cards, gift tags, scrapbook inserts, and other crafts.

A small group crafting project gives the public an opportunity to learn some new skills in a supportive and relaxed environment. A flyer printing company can be a helpful partner promoting an event, and the materials it crafts can usually be recycled once they are no longer needed.

This chance to learn how to transform wastepaper into an attractive material will be offered on Saturday, December 2. The Carlsbad City Library is located at 1775 Dove Lane. Admission to the workshops is by donation, with a suggestion of $15 to $25.
