Thanks in part to funding from a city of Carlsbad Community Arts Grant, the Carlsbad Art Wall has begun its second season, and hopes to be bigger and better than last year’s.
The murals can be seen on the walls of Senor Grubby’s in the Carlsbad Village. The plan is for them to be installed on a rotating basis, so that the works of several area artists can be featured throughout the year. They will be curated by Bryan Snyder, who is a well-known local artist. A postcard printing company can use photos of the murals to produce Postcards and other promotional items. These can help to attract tourism to the area.
Snyder is a native of the local community, and has been an active member of the Carlsbad Village art scene since 2005. He was granted the 2012 Los Angeles Street Artist of the Year, and has spent a lot of time working to encourage the development of a variety of art events and street installations, with the hope that this will encourage a connection between aspiring and established artists, expose the public to art from up and coming painters, and help to promote local businesses.
After the installation of each of the murals, an workshop on urban art will be hosted by Snyder, along with the help of the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club.
