Monsters" to wreak havoc in Show Low

Monsters are on the way to Show Low, but at least they are giving residents plenty of warning of their arrival.

The monsters in this case are not ogres and giants, but vehicles taking part in the Monster Truck Nitro Tour. These gigantic trucks can weigh as much as 10,000lb and, with their enormous tires, are capable of crushing cars. The monster trucks will race, take part in wheelie contests, and then put on a freestyle exhibition. Fans who want to get a close look at the trucks should attend the Pit Party before the main event. The event also includes rides in the monster trucks, autograph sessions during the Pit Parties, VIP seating, and motocross.

Monster trucks are specialized vehicles made for off-road use. In addition to the oversize tires, the trucks have four-wheel steering, heavy-duty suspensions, and V-8 engines with large displacement. The first monster trucks were created by simply modifying stock vehicles, but they are now being built specifically for these demonstrations. The construction includes fiberglass bodies instead of metal, and tube-frame chassis. The average monster truck is approximately 12 feet tall, and its tires have a staggering diameter of 66 inches.

The Monster Truck Nitro Tour will be held at the Deuce of Clubs Thunder Raceway. There are three shows – May 30 at 7.30 pm, and May 31 at 1.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Organizers of shows like this may decide to publicize them with Posters, which they can order at professional Print shops.
