Major auto event coming up round Show Low

A traditional event going back 40 years is set to take place once again in and near Show Low.

Darla and Jim Faulk, Randi and Ted Corbin, and volunteers are hosting the upcoming Run to the Pines Car Show. There are 575 cars built before 1973 in the collection. Although the Car Show is limited to these pre-1973 classics, the Cavalcade of Cars Road Tour is open to anyone with a special interest vehicle of any age.

This multi-day event begins on Friday with the Cavalcade of Cars Road Tour, which starts at the LDS Church in Show Low. Special interest and classic vehicles of any age may participate without pre-registering. The end point of the drive is the Hon-Dah Resort Casino, and people often find a spot beside the route to watch the cars pass. The day ends with a BBQ dinner at the casino.

Saturday brings the car show itself, which will be held on the grounds of the Pinetop Lakes Golf and Country Club in Pinetop. Cars will be allowed onto the grounds at 7.00 am, and admission for spectators is free with a non-perishable donation to local charities. The show is open to spectators from 8.00 am until 4.00 pm.

There is a non-denominational church service at 9.00 am Sunday, and raffle drawings and awards presentations are at 12.00 pm.

The show runs Friday, September 27 through Sunday, September 29. Organizers of this type of outdoor event will often work with banner printing to create decorations.
