Halloween twist coming to Show Low

Show Low is putting a twist on Halloween this year.

Over 30 businesses are taking part in an upcoming Trunk-or-Treat event that will be held at Hatch Toyota. Trunk-or-Treat, as the name implies, is a twist on the traditional Trick-or-Treat. Instead of going from house to house asking for candy, children at the upcoming event will go from car to car.

In addition to candy, some of the participants will have simple games children can play to win prizes. Since businesses are giving away the candy and games, some will also have booths set up so people can learn more about them.

As well as the cars, musical entertainment is planned and a Kidz Zone will be set up. Food vendors will also be on site.

Organizers have some advice for those who plan to distribute candy. Acceptable “Trunks” can be cars, pickup trucks, or 10’ x 10’ Easy-Up Canopy vehicles, which should all be decorated for Halloween. They also note that people should expect to give out about 5,000 pieces of candy, and are advised to plan accordingly as they cannot leave the event early.

Show Low’s Trunk-or-Treat is a free event, and is scheduled for October 26, from 2.00 pm until 7.00 pm. Hatch Toyota is located at 1051 North Automall Parkway. Children are reminded to bring a bag so they can collect their candy. Organizers of this type of event may want to work with a printer who uses banner printing to create seasonal decorations.
