A unique class is coming up in Show Low where students will have a chance to make exceptional products.
The Arts Alliance of the White Mountains is presenting a class in making stained glass, with instructor Peggy Donathan, who is with Donathan Studio Glass. The studio honors the traditions associated with stained glass but also explores new materials and ideas. They accept commissions, take pieces on consignment, repair and restore pieces, and teach the art of stained glass. Among their products are glass on glass mosaics, architectural stained glass, and more.
The upcoming class will teach all the skills necessary to work with the copper foil method in stained glass construction. Students will learn soldering, how to apply copper foil, how to grind glass, and how to cut and break glass. They will also learn about patterns, equipment and tools, and cleaning. All the tools and materials needed for the class will be provided, and students will be able to choose from among ten different patterns.
The Beginning Stained Glass Class will consist of two sessions, January 5 and 6, from 11.00 am until 3.00 pm both days. The Arts Alliance is at 251 Penrod Road in Show Low. The fee for the class is $95, and payment must be made in order for the student to reserve a space. When events like this are planned, organizers could use brochure printing to create course materials and instruction sheets.
