An upcoming event in Show Low will teach attendees about creating a homestead off the grid.
Super Saturday: How to Build a Sustainable Off-Grid Homestead will feature presentations by gardeners, preppers, experts in living off the grid, and in sustainability.
There will be two sessions, morning and afternoon. Morning classes begin with a welcome address from Sarah Garlick, the caretaker of Coslor Cove, an Arizona off-grid community. She will be followed by Philip Gleason, who will discuss the Operation Self-Reliance Initiative.
The keynote speech will be via Zoom, and features Joel Skousen. He will speak for an hour and then facilitate a 30-minute Q&A session. Jessie Fisher will talk about going it alone or joining an off-grid community, and the final presentation of the morning again features Philip Gleason talking about planning a homestead.
After lunch, classes resume with Philip Gleason’s presentation about food and how people can get the nutrients they need. Jeanne Fisher will talk about solar homes, and Larry Joins will follow with a presentation about solar energy. He will also talk about finding and maintaining a water supply, and the afternoon ends with Jessee Fisher’s talk on sanitation. A chance of networking follows.
The event is scheduled for January 25, from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm, at the White Mountain Lake Airpark, 1900 Bourdon Ranch Road in Show Low. Organizers of events like this could work with flyer printing to create a handout for attendees, listing their suggestions and concepts.
