Zoo to host volunteering day

Montgomery Zoo has organized a day for volunteers in late August.

This volunteer work will allow attendees to help the employees smarten up the zoo, as well as prepare for future events. The jobs will include various items of maintenance on the grounds, such as planting flowers, painting, and trimming bushes. Volunteers can also choose to help the staff in daily operations.

While there will be staff on hand to help guide those who attend, it is likely there will be Signs and notices with Letterheads or Logo Design near the entrance to direct the group to the right starting point. There are multiple options for how much time someone can spend volunteering. There is a morning group, an afternoon, and an all-day set. Those who want to bring their children are able to do so as long as they are at least 12 years old and they are supervised. If the child is older than 16 but younger than 19, they can attend alone as long as there is a signed note from their guardian giving them permission.

Schools, businesses, and military squadrons are among the other groups allowed to attend as well. However, at this point the zoo is unable to accept those sentenced to community service by the courts.

The morning time window is set to be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the afternoon being from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and the all-day timeslot being from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The date of this event is August 28.
