Toy drive kicks off in Montgomery

The Alabama News Network holds the Magical Christmas Toy Drive every year, and its seventh year is underway.

The drive is designed to help the network collect toys that will be donated to the Salvation Army of Montgomery and given to local children. This year’s Magical Christmas Toy Vault will be located at Eastdale Mall right between At Home and the Ice Palace. Corporate Gifts and donations are always appreciated by such programs.

By looking through a window, people will be able to see how the toys are accumulating beneath the Christmas tree. The program states that it has already received donations worth thousands of dollars, although the community’s help is still needed to ensure every child in the region has a happy Christmas.

People who wish to make donations can check out the Magical Christmas Toy Drive’s website to get ideas on the kinds of gifts that the kids will want. There is a higher demand for gifts for older children.

This year, Alabama News Network studios cannot accept toys delivered to the station. The news network will put together a piece on how the toys were taken to the families so that donors can see how their toys are making children smile.

Collections for unwrapped Christmas toys are ongoing until December 11. When the collection process is completed, the Salvation Army will take over and make sure gifts are distributed in time for Christmas.
