Pipeline rehabilitation company awarded large contract

The city of Montgomery recently awarded Aegion Corporation an $8 million contract for its Infrastructure Solutions platform.

The contract covers the second and last

phases of a rehabilitation project of a wastewater pipeline that is in the Econchate Basin, a collection system. Water from the Basin drains into the Econchate Wastewater Treatment Plant. Aegion was awarded and completed the first phase of the project in April of this year.

Over 20,000 feet of 8-inch to 48-inch diameter pipelines will be rehabilitated by Aegion with its Insituform cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) and iPlus Composite material. The company will also rehabilitate 34 manholes and construct over two miles of access roads that can stand up to all weather conditions in the wetlands area. The schedule to start the second phase is later this month is and expected to take about 15 months to complete.

Aegion Corporation specializes in infrastructure protection and maintenance and is looking to its Insituform CIPP technology to perform well in the major water and wastewater pipeline markets in North America. This technology can protect against the corrosion of industrial pipelines and strengthen and rehabilitate energy and mining piping systems and buildings, water, wastewater, bridges, and waterfront and tunnel structures.

The company may want to look to various marketing services to promote this technology to other municipalities in the United States and Canada.
