The business incubator spaces across from the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Montgomery are welcoming Charlie’s Donuts and Yogurt in front of the Union Station Train Shed.
As the nature of an incubator space is to give new businesses a chance to build their reputation and customers before moving to a more permanent location, the new eatery is most likely turning to a variety of printing services to get the word out about the business and develop a following. Mayor Todd Strange said that the business has become popular with students in Auburn.
According to owner Jeff Ratcliff, this is a great opportunity to be in the retail incubator, get up and running, become known, and then relocate somewhere else in downtown Montgomery. The shop plans to offer such fare as donuts, pastries, frozen yogurt, cinnamon twists, coffee, and other beverages.
Leaders within the Montgomery Downtown Business Association commented that they are working with all kinds of businesses to bring excitement to the downtown area and keep the momentum going. Clay McInnis, president of the association, said that many new small cultural events are sprouting that tie people together within the city, adding that the idea is to get people to love living in the city and being able to grow up here, developing and discussing their dreams as time passes.
