The Pike Road School, part of the Pike Road School system located in southeast Montgomery County, will have a new principal this month.
Superintendent and acting principal, Dr. Suzanne Freeman, recommended Angela Lang to the board of education, which unanimously voted her in. Lang was part of the administrative staff at the school.
Lang was hired at the beginning of the school year as assistant principal. She commented that it is great to already be part of the team and to be able to continue her relationship. Her hopes are that everyone will continue working as a team to ensure that the vision and mission of the Pike Road Way are continued.
Superintendent Freeman said that the transition of Lang to principal will be a smooth one as she has experience in brainstorming and in problem solving in a collaborative fashion.
With degrees in chemical engineering, history and educational leadership from Tuskegee University, Lang has had 12 years of experience in education in the school systems of Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. In Tennessee she implemented a tablet program that gave 17,000 such devices to school children and was instrumental in starting up the Pike Road School system.
Most likely, the school system will use a Print company to create a mailer that can be sent out to students, parents and families in the community about the promotion of Lang to principal.
