Montgomery hosts Festival of Alabama Fiber Arts

Montgomery will be the home to the third annual Festival of Alabama Fiber Arts at the Alabama National Fairgrounds at the end of this month.

No doubt local flyer and poster printing companies are being used to announce this festival to the community so as to attract as many people as possible.

The event is designed to celebrate the rich textile tradition in the state. There will be many furry animals to see, such as pygora goats and alpacas, and a variety of hands-on workshops and classes will enable participants to work with well-known fiber artists in an interactive environment.

Three of the workshops are specially designed for homeschooled children and Girl Scouts and will be in attendance as well, making felted soap, knitting, and meeting a fiber farmer.

More than 30 vendors are also signed up to be at the festival and will have many items related to fiber, ranging from yarn and fleece to the finished fiber artwork. There will be demonstrations in beekeeping, needlepoint, basket weaving, and a fiber market.

The Festival will take place on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, with hours on Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday’s opening times being from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
