In Montgomery, the dead will rise (for a good cause)

The Seventh Annual Zombie Walk and Prom is open to the "undead" of all ages.

The Irish Bred Restaurant and Pub will host this fun family event that helps to raise funds for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Guests are asked to dress in their most horrific ensembles in order to take part in a fun night of freakish costumes and dancing.

All comers are asked to bring either a cash donation or nonperishable food items. All of the proceeds and the collected food will be given to the food bank. The event has been a popular occasion for the last six years and has managed to collect more than 5,000lb of food per year.

Non-profits looking for ideas that require very little investment may benefit greatly from this type of idea. Some refreshments and a few Halloween Promotional Products for giveaways and costume contest prizes can make any school or charitable prom a fundraising success.

The Zombie Walk and Prom will take place this Friday, September 29. The walk begins at South Perry Street at Dexter Avenue at 7:00 PM. All participants will follow the route to the Alley where the party will begin. A live DJ will be providing the entertainment and refreshments will be served. There is no fee for admission and the Facebook page for the event is offering coupons and the location of where to find discounted costumes.
