The primary aim of Miss Alabama USA 2013 is to instill self-confidence into the young women of Alabama. As Mary Margaret McCord from Gadsden was crowned the winner at the pageant held at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center, she stated that her position would be utilized to give assistance to young women who have issues with self-confidence and image.
The pageant was held over a weekend in December in Montgomery, with Mary McCord being selected from 15 finalists. During a phone interview, McCord admitted that she had dreamt of winning the pageant for the last three years, taking part for the first time three years ago.
McCord lives in Tuscaloosa, where she attends the University of Alabama. She has gained a Bachelor’s in public relations, along with a double minor in communications and entrepreneurship. Currently, McCord is working towards a Master’s in marketing at the university, although she has had to take a semester off to pursue her dream as Miss Alabama USA 2013.
While taking time out from University, McCord will work towards the Miss USA pageant to be held during the summer, while making appearances. The Miss Universe Organization, a collaboration between Donald Trump and NBC Universal Media LLC, produces the pageants for Miss USA, Miss Universe, and Miss Teen USA. In addition to promoting self-confidence, McCord will also raise awareness of the charities supported by the Miss Universe Organization.
Local printing companies support the pageants with their flyer printing and poster printing services for the big day.
