Those in the Montgomery area may wish to make a note of several events and activities taking place on their doorstep.
From Friday, January 9 until Sunday January, 11 is the National Judges Cup Championship, taking place for the 25th consecutive year. This is a traveling invitational hosted by the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges, and raises money for the organization.
January 10 is the monthly Dads and Daughters Saturday at the Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library. Held every second Saturday, it features dancing, singing, and arts and crafts, along with storytelling, promising to bring laughter and fun to all who attend.
Also this Saturday is a free guided tour at the Museum of Alabama. A docent from the Museum takes attendees back in time as they explore Alabama’s history from its earliest inhabitants to the current day at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
Lastly, running through January 23 at Alabama State University and presented by its National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African American Cultural Studies, an exhibit titled ‘Still Marching Forward’ is to take place. It will include selections from its permanent collection in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights March from Selma to Montgomery.
