Not all romantic moments involve flowers and candlelight. For Mobile resident Shawna Blackmon, it included a supposed motorcycle chase and local police officers, but it turned out well for all involved.
Blackmon was contacted by members of the motorcycle group that includes her boyfriend Daiwon McPherson. They notified her that he was currently involved in an incident with the police. She arrived moments later at a local gas station where flashing lights and armed officers were attempting to take her boyfriend into custody.
The duo had planned on meeting later that night for their traditional date night, but McPherson had already arranged for something a little more dramatic. He had contacted the police department with his plan earlier in the day and found them eagerly in agreement.
Several hours later, Blackmon found herself approaching her boyfriend after speaking with the officers. It took her several seconds to realize what was happening when McPherson pulled a diamond ring from his pocket. The surprised girlfriend was so relieved that it took hours before she calmed down enough to truly look at the ring.
Thankfully, she accepted the proposal and said that the small wedding she had originally planned is now being upgraded just to compete with McPherson's surprise.
