Alabama national fair comes to Montgomery

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery is hosting the Alabama National Fair and Agricultural Exposition currently running at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery. All the rides, shows and food of the previous 60 years of the Fair have returned, with some new attractions for 2104.

According to the Manager of the Alabama National Fair, Randy Stephenson, new additions include a show with pirates of the Colombian Caribbean, high-wire acts, and dogs in flight, as well as some new rides.

Livestock events include shows of dairy and beef cattle, as well as rabbits and youth swine.

One of the highlights of the Fair is Kachunga and the Alligator Show, where Kachunga enters the water in order to capture an eight-foot, 250-pound American alligator and then displays it on the platform. Other events include equestrian shows, a shooting exhibition, the Zerbini Family Circus, and the Ham Bone Express 3 Racing Pigs.

There will also be concerts with Kool and the Gang, Styx, Joe Nichols, and Easton Corbin.

The Kiwanis Club has possibly used local printing services to create an extensive flyer about all the activities, events, demonstrations, and displays over the course of the Fair. Proceeds from the fair are used by the Club to raise money for youth, education and charitable projects, and also for prize money to competitive winners in the Fair, which runs through October 13.
