Newport welcomes post punk group

Rock/post punk group DITZ, supported by The Byker Grove Fan Club, is due to play a gig in Newport at the beginning of December.

This next generation band uses an large array of pedal effects, and combines it with 80s and 90s influences. Their debut record entitled "5 Songs" was released in 2020 on the Alcopop! Records label, and included the singles "Role Model" and "Total 90".

It received positive feedback from a number of the UK's top new wave punk bands such as Slaves and IDLES. There was also considerable media coverage from "So Young", "Loud and Quiet" and "Line of Best Fit" among others.

DITZ both featured in Green Man Rising Longlisters and Glastonbury Festival’s emerging talent list. They have shared a stage with groups such as Spectres, Crows, BDRMM, The Coathangers and British Sea Power. Their festival appearances in the EU/UK/ include Left Of The Dial, Best Kept Secret and Festival Transfer.

The Band's sound was described by "So Young" as:

“An erratic alliance between Brutalism and environment, [Role Model] spends its short lifespan roaring and interrogating, brewing dynamism from the bristly undergrowth of seething post-punk.”

Tickets cost £9.90 inclusive of booking fee and there is an age limit of 16 plus. Print shops can be a useful resource when planning a future musical event.

The DITZ gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd December at Le Pub, Newport.
