The hometown ska tribute band 2 Rude is due to play a gig in Newport at the end of December.
1980 was the key year for the majority of ska fans. The sounds of The Specials and The Beat were to be heard on the radio, and 2 Tone bands lifted the spirits in difficult times. It was a musical genre that united individuals and it still does so today.
2 Rude got together in 2009 thanks to the energy and determination of Mark Harry. He assembled a group of seven high-class musicians who then proceeded, over many years, to play shows that now can be counted in the several thousand.
The band has shared a stage with a host of leading musical artists including Bad Manners, Aswad and The Selecter, not to mention Midge Ure, releasing the 'Cool Down' EP in 2014.
They are constantly touring countrywide delivering their own version of standard 2-toned hits, both selling-out concerts and appearing at festivals. 2 RUDE is widely acknowledged as being one of the best live acts on the circuit.
