Newport to host FE Research Meet

A Further Education Research event will be held in Newport in December.

The conference is designed for those working in the adult and post-school education sector, such as technical and sixth form colleges, community and adult learning centres. The intention is to try to reflect sector priorities and to highlight innovative ideas.

It will present lecturers, teachers, tutors and training professionals with an opportunity to engage in practitioner evaluation and to share individual research as well as the chance to learn from the experiences of others. This objective is achieved by working on an evidential and collaborative basis to develop teaching methods and enhance learning outcomes. It involves exploring ideas and elevating practice, while the presenters themselves are drawn from a wide range of further education backgrounds.

Professor David James from Cardiff University is the key note speaker and has agreed to address the audience on a current topic. Three or four presenters will then pitch for five minutes on their own research area, theme or particular innovation. Those in attendance can choose the preferred option to lead the session. A workshop, which will be 45 minutes in length, will follow where interested participants can analyse the substantive material.

This event is free to attend and registration is at 5pm. Printing services can be invaluable to events in the academic sector.

The Further Education Meet will take place between 5:30pm and 7:30pm on Thursday 12th December at the Newport City Campus of the University of South Wales.
