Newport to celebrate the joy of food

The Newport Food Festival, an annual event organised by the local council, is due to take place in the city once again over a three-day period in mid-October.

Popular and established more than a decade ago, 2023 marks the 13th year of the festival. Things will kick off on Friday at the Mercure Hotel with a special festival supper. This will consist of food which has been sourced locally, prepared and then cooked, with local chefs doing the honours.

The focal event takes place on Saturday and is located on the High Street. This will include over 70 food stalls that are set to showcase a wide variety of produce and drink from around the globe. The emphasis here is on vegetarian food and quality refreshments.

This will be accompanied by a series of demonstrations by leading chefs, with those attending able to learn more about how the various dishes are delivered. The opportunity is also likely to arise of sampling a few. Also not to be forgotten is the keenly contested Teenchef competition.

The festival then closes on Sunday in a more relaxed and chilled out atmosphere, with street food and live musical entertainment.

Entry is free thanks to funds derived from grants and sponsorship. Banner printing can be an effective way of advertising a future community event.

Newport Food Festival will be held between Friday, October 13 and Sunday, October 15 in Newport city centre.
