The singer/songwriter Sean McGowan is presently on tour and due to give a performance in Newport at the end of April.
Born in Southampton, McGowan lists The Clash, Billy Bragg and The Specials among his musical influences. He has developed his own distinctive voice, delivering songs with a working-class integrity that strikes a chord both in Britain, and beyond.
His career has seen him tour more than 20 countries since 2009, sometimes juggling singing with a variety of part-time jobs. Sean was on the road for five years, releasing two self-financed EPs, prior to attracting wider public attention at The Great Escape Festival in 2013.
He has toured with or supported acts in particular The Levellers, Frank Turner, Fly and Beans On Toast, headlined sell-out shows himself and appeared at a host of festivals, notably Bestival and Glastonbury.
His discography encompasses Five EPs, including ‘The People's Music’, ‘Look Lively’ and ‘Curate Calm Create Chaos’ as well as a debut LP titled ‘Son Of The Smith’. Sean's latest album, ‘Who on Earth’, is due for release in April.
Tickets cost £10 and may be subject to a booking fee. The value of poster printing should not be underestimated when promoting a concert or other type of musical event.
Sean McGowan's gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Thursday, April 27 at Le Public Space, Newport.
