Newport prepares for arrival of New York rocker

The singer-songwriter Jesse Malin is due to play a gig in Newport towards the end of June.

This New York native, whose musical roots lie in both the punk and rock ‘n’ roll scenes, has been playing and touring since the age of 12. The street-smart storyteller is frequently compared with artists such as Lou Reed, Neil Young and Joe Strummer.

Malin was a member of the 1990s glamour punk group D-Generation, but then opted to go solo in 2002. He has recorded a duet with Bruce Springsteen, as well as touring Britain many times, including a recent series of acoustic shows with Chuck Prophet.

The artist’s original solo album, The Fine Art of Self Destruction, came out on the One Little Indian Records label and sold over 20,000 Copies in the UK alone. Six other records followed, and he formed his own band in 2010. Malin’s latest album is in double CD format and titled Sad and Beautiful World. He will be playing tracks from this album on his UK and Irish tour dates.

Tickets cost £16.50, inclusive of a booking fee. Printing services can be a useful aid when planning for a future concert or local musical event such as this.

Jesse Malin's gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Tuesday, 21st June at Le Pub, Newport.
