The English prog-rock band, Big Big Train, is embarking on its 'The Likes of Us Tour - Europe' and is due to appear in Newport.
Formed in 1990 by songwriter Gregory Spawton, it has undergone considerable personnel changes over the decades and won music awards. Their initial deal was with the GEP label which delivered a debut studio album 'Goodbye to the Age of Steam'.
After poor sales, BBT once again, went independent. But the release of the LPs 'Gathering Speed' in 2004 and 2007's 'The Difference Machine' saw them gain a renewed impetus.
They didn't complete their first-ever UK tour until the autumn of 2019. Indeed, it was the LP 'Common Ground' released in 2021 that achieved BBT's highest-ever chart rating, 31 on the UK Albums Chart.
The band is presently composed of a group of multi-instrumentalists, that includes Gregory Spawton with Alberto Bravin acting as lead vocalist.
In March this year, the LP 'The Likes of Us' came out, coinciding with their debut US gig incorporated within the Mead Hall in America tour.
