Newport gets ready to host stand-up comedian
The comic Tom Houghton is on his ‘Absolute Shambles’ tour and due to play Newport at the beginning of April.
A natural entertainer, the 38-year-old was interested in the theatre from an early age and attended Sedbergh School. Subsequently, he went on to study Drama at the University of Kent at Canterbury.
Tom emerged as one quarter of the UK comedy troupe The Noise Next Door, noted for their fast wit and original material. They appeared on numerous television and radio programmes, receiving a nomination in 2014 for a Chortle Award.
He embarked on a solo stand-up career in 2016, selling out at the Edinburgh Festival. However, he is perhaps best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's Roast Battle and Channel 4's First Dates Hotel. He has also acquired over a quarter of a million followers on social media.
This is Tom's second national tour, in which he is noted for his distinctive takes, tall tales and chat of biblical proportions. It occurs just as he has agreed to become a contestant on the Netflix reality TV Show The Circle.
Standard tickets cost £16.50, with concession tickets priced at £14.25. The value of print shops as a resource should not be underestimated when it comes to organising a concert or theatrical event.
Tom Houghton's show has a starting time of 8pm on Wednesday, April 5 at The Riverfront, Newport.
