Newport gears up to welcome sixties band

The Pieces Of Mind, presented by Global Promotions, is set to perform its Last Fling and included is a date in Newport at the end of March.

This South Wales band plays both original material and R&B songs and was popular in the UK and particularly Germany, in the 1960s. They initially practised at the St. John the Bosco Hall, Newport and by 1966 were at Coed Eva Community College, supporting The Who.

The Pieces went on to support such contemporary artists and groups as Billy Fury, Manfred Mann, The Hollies, David Bowie, The Moody Blues and The Searchers. They also played in famous venues such as Hamburg's Top Ten and Star Clubs, achieving almost cult fame.

By the late 1960s, the life of the band had eventually run its course with members joining other outfits such as The World of Oz. But in 2013, they reformed to celebrate their 50th anniversary and two years later released a debut album titled ‘Born At The Bosco’.

In 2017, the band appeared at the Brentwood Festival with the likes of Midge Ure and Go West.

Tickets cost a standard £5. It is worth considering using printing services when promoting a forthcoming concert or musical event.

The Pieces Of Mind gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Sunday 26th March at Potters Pub, Newport.
