The musical "The Elvis Years: The Story of the King", produced by Ivor Novello Award-winner David Mackay, is due to arrive in Newport at the beginning of March.
This stage version tells the well-known tale of Elvis Presley. Mario Kombou from Jailhouse Rock is joined by a professional band and award-winning singers to take the audience on a journey through 50 or more hit records that span three decades.
The show features the ups and downs of the King of Rock and Roll’s eventful life. It encompasses everything from the early hits at Sun Records and the Jordanaires, through The Grand Old Opry to his mother's death and the military years. There are also recreations from his popular Hollywood movies as well as the 1968 comeback special, not to mention the later exuberant Las Vegas shows.
This two-hour stage production also makes use of historic film footage and has a dozen or more changes of costume. It includes such classic hits as "That’s Alright Mama", "Heartbreak Hotel", "Hound Dog", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Love Me Tender", "It's Now or Never", "Suspicious Minds" and "If I Can Dream."
Tickets cost £26 for adults and £24 for concessions. Promotional Products can be an effective way of publicising a forthcoming musical or theatrical event.
The Elvis Years has a starting time of 7:30 pm on Friday, March 4 at The Riverfront, Newport.
