Newport awaits the arrival of folk duo

The Sound of the Sirens is currently on tour, and due to play a gig in Newport at the beginning of November.

This southwest-based folk group consists of singer/songwriters Hannah Wood and Abbe Martin. They won Exeter's 'Battle of the Bands', and have been fine-tuning their acoustic sound for more than a decade now.

The pair are two of the most dedicated musicians presently on the folk scene, raising their profile and attracting a large fan following. Their songs mainly focus on previous relationships and life's different experiences, but they also highlight topics such as homelessness and mental health issues.

Their capabilities in regard to instruments are both considerable and varied. Abbe plays high-strung and acoustic guitar, plus mandolin, while Hannah plays electric and acoustic guitars and piano. Both artists drum.

The duo's music translates well onto records. They have so far released a handful of studio albums, which includes 2017's 'For All Our Sins' and 2019's 'This Time', as well as 'Damage Control', which came out only last year. Undoubtedly though, it is live on stage where the pair truly shine.

Tickets cost £16.50 inclusive of a booking fee. Stationery printers can be useful when it comes to preparing for a future concert or musical event, like this one.

The Sound of the Sirens gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Saturday 11th November, and can be found at Le Pub, Newport.
