Major Tom calls Newport

"The Bowie Experience" tribute concert is due to drop in on Newport towards the end of February.

This is a celebration of the music of David Bowie, one of the world's most influential musical artists and pop icons. In a career that spanned six decades, he remained authentic, robust and constantly creative, becoming a presence on nearly everyone's playlist at some point in their lives.

"Space Oddity" was the song that propelled Bowie into stardom, eventually becoming a hit in the US charts when it was re-released in 1974. Many more well-known hits followed, and this was combined with an ability to change persona as vehicles for the expression of his musical talent.

The latest production, which has toured theatres across the world, pays considerable attention to detail, bringing to life the golden years of his career. It is a journey through sight and sound that treats the audience to a selection of his greatest hits. The show will have a definite appeal for Bowie fans, but also those who want to discover more about both the man and his music.

Ticket prices start at £23 and it is advisable to book in advance. Graphic design can be an important element in the production of large musical events such as this.

The Bowie Experience, which was originally planned for March 2020, will now start at 7:30pm on Friday, February 26 at The Riverfront, Newport.
