Radio Warrington relaunch has mayoral backing
Warrington’s community radio provider has received mayoral help with its relaunch.
Radio Warrington has been delivering its service on an online basis for nine years. It has now been given a new opportunity to broadcast in a more traditional way. The mayor of the town has helped out at the relaunch party as the station hit the airwaves.
Mayor and Labour councillor, Faisal Rashid has allowed himself to be questioned on the details of his local vision live on air. Promotional products from Warrington can be used to advertise the radio station at future events. Councillor Rashid has stated:
Councillor Rashid pointed out that using the radio is ideal for enabling local people to comment on national issues. However, he also suggested that it was a useful platform for discussing local happenings and events.
Volunteers are responsible for the management of Radio Warrington. It used to be located at studios in the Warrington Market area. It will still be possible to listen to the station over the internet in the future. Recruitment of more volunteers is an option for the organisation going forward and efforts are being made to facilitate this.
