Upcoming comedy fundraiser for Northwood charity

A Northwood cancer charity will host a comedy night within West Ruislip in a couple of months.

Located at the Mount Vernon Hospital (MVH), the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre focuses its attention on cancer and other serious health conditions, and will be the beneficiary of the event. Flyers from Hayes could be used to promote the upcoming event at West Ruislip’s The Comedy Bunker (TCB).

Paul Tonkinson has been pencilled in to headline the September show. As reported in the Hillingdon Times, the act of Tonkinson has been described in glowing terms at the Comedyclub.co.uk website:

“A master of mimicry and particular amusing accents, he takes his audience on a guided tour of Britain, using his observational skills – and those funny voices to find humour in almost every region in the UK and further afield.”

Tonkinson has admitted to being a “professional Northerner”. Nevertheless, a critic at The Independent has praised the comic too.

Zoe Lyons will warm up the audience at the start of the evening. She is a former actress who has fared well in Edinburgh. Over a decade ago, she secured top prize in the Funny Women Competition (FWC). Since those early triumphs, she has starred in quite a wide range of popular television shows, such as Mock the Week and The Wright Stuff.

The comedy night will take place on September 1, with tickets and more info available by calling 01923 844290.
