Local businesses encouraged to use test sites

Councillors in Hillingdon are urging companies to use COVID-19 test centres around the borough.

In recent months, the Hillingdon area has seen many buildings become test sites for COVID-19, including the Beck Theatre based in Hayes, Uxbridge’s Civic Centre, Northwood’s Haste Hill Golf Course and the Young People’s Centre’s in South Ruislip and Harlington.

In a drive to encourage local business to send their staff without symptoms to be tested, Hillingdon Council has put out a call for the borough’s tests centre’s to be attended regularly.

Hillingdon Council leader, Ian Edwards, commented on the local initiative:

“Every business in the borough has a part to play in helping the local economy recover, ensuring that, as we return to normality, we still take care not to risk further spread of the virus and more restrictions.”

Organisations and local authorities running campaigns designed to persuade firms and members of the public to act can sometimes use poster printing services to showcase their messaging in civic buildings, such as libraries and community centres.

Among the local companies answering the call so far are public service provider Serco UK and the jewellers HINDS, with both firms sending staff members regularly to the council-run test centres in Hillingdon. Both companies commented that doing so had empowered them to operate safely amid the pandemic.
