A special show for VE Day will be held at a theatre in Hayes in May.
The Spirit of the Blitz is a musical show that will grace the boards of the Beck Theatre on Grange Road in Hayes. Celebrating VE Day’s 75th anniversary, the theatre will pay tribute to the iconic stars that entertained Britain during its darkest hours during the 1940s. Designed to recapture the optimistic tenacity of the war-torn British people, the production will feature classic numbers sung during the Blitz.
Local theatres can make good use of flyer printing services to create leaflets that advertise upcoming shows to celebrate special days and spread the word among the public.
The show stars Maggie O’Hara, Pete Lindup and Andy Eastwood who will work together to recreate forties favourites like George Formby, Bing Crosby, Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields, Max Miller and Anne Shelton. The performance that involves both songs and “good clean comedy” was created by Eastwood with musical direction ably supplied by David Carter.
Those attending the VE Day stage celebration can sing along to the swinging hits of the era including ‘Leaning on a Lamppost’, ‘Bless ‘Em All’, ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree’ and the well-known wartime anthem ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
The Spirit of the Blitz production in honour of VE Day will take place of Wednesday, May 13.
