Tamworth welcomes new training centre

A new training facility has been set up in Tamworth.

The National House Building Council (NHBC), property developer Redrow, and Tamworth’s local borough council have joined forces to establish the centre. Dubbed the Tamworth Training Hub, the new facility is already up and running, with the initial cohort of bricklayers embarking on a course to teach them their trade.

The built-for-purpose facility has been designed to train approximately 100 apprentices per year. Due to a shortage of the specialist trade in the home-building sector, bricklaying is the primary focus of the initial courses on offer. Educational organisations and training centres can sometimes use brochure printing services to create clear and easy-to-read literature outlining curriculums to course candidates.

The new training hub is situated close to an active development run by Redrow, resembling a conventional site compound. Dedicated classrooms have been set up and a large central area with all-weather covering has been created for practical work.

Redrow human resources director for Redrow, Karen Jones, commented:

“In providing this long-term training hub we are providing stability and security for many young people.”

While the NHBC’s main business, and role in the housing sector, is to regulate quality and issue building warranties, in September 2020 it registered as an official apprenticeship provider. To date, over 100 new trainees have become a part of its apprenticeship programme.
