A brand-new pantomime will grace the stage of a performing arts theatre in Tamworth in the new year.
Fans of music, laughter and onstage antics will be pleased to hear that Tamworth Assembly Rooms will be introducing a brand-new production this coming January.
Dubbed “Goldilocks”, the pantomime has a circus theme, and promises a magical experience for all attending.
Theatres presenting pantomimes and plays often enlist the assistance of talented flyer printing services to create hand-held adverts they can display in local hubs like libraries, schools and community centres.
New for 2024, Goldilocks was created by the Tamworth Pantomime Company, who are back on form following their recent success with “Sleeping Beauty”.
The panto tells the tale of Dame Betty Barnum running her family circus with son Joey, and a little help from the titular character, Goldilocks. However, the circus faces tough times, and Betty’s rival, the Ringmaster Heinkel, is trying to run it the ground with his dastardly tricks.
Pantomime as we know it originated near the beginning of the 18th century, when Commedia characters began to appear on London stages. These early pantomimes were usually based on classical stories and set to music, yet unlike modern pantos, they had no speech.
The pantomime Goldilocks will be performed at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms from January 6 to January 14. The theatre can be found on Corporation Street in Tamworth.
