Sheffield to welcome murder mystery

A world-renowned play penned by a prolific English author known for her detective novels will be performed live at a respected theatre in Sheffield this year.

Residents with a love of sleuthing can catch Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap when it arrives on stage in the city this autumn. The upcoming performance is part of a tour of the UK and Ireland, which has been orchestrated specially to celebrate the much-loved murder mystery’s 75th anniversary.

Enjoying the title of the longest running play in the world, The Mousetrap opened in November,1952 in London’s revered West End. Set within a newly launched guest house operated by a young couple, the famous play sees several strangers snowed in by an extreme winter storm. After a policeman warns that a murderer is in the vicinity, one of the people in the guest house is murdered, and suspicions arise that a killer is in their midst.

The Mousetrap will now be on stage at the Lyceum Theatre on Tuesday, November 3. Curtains will open at 7.30 pm, and the theatre can be found in Tudor Square at 55 Norfolk Street in Sheffield. Ticket prices for the performance start at £15 per person. Those keen to attend are encouraged to book early.
