Saskatoon outing to visit cheerful chickadees

Chickadees are a familiar and friendly species of bird that can be found in and around Saskatoon, and an upcoming activity will see members of the public meet them birds up close and in person.

The participants in the guided Cheerful Chickadee Tour will meet up at 2202 11st Street West in Saskatoon, before they head out to Pike Lake Provincial Park to do some guided birding. With a little luck, they will be able to attract some curious chickadees, who may even be tempted to eat out of their hands.

The registration fee for the day is $68.56, which includes fees and any applicable taxes. After leaving the park, the group will look for birds in other locations before they return to the city. Everyone is advised to wear warm clothes, and winter boots are strongly recommended, as the participants may be walking through unbroken trails and deep snow.

The proceeds from the day will benefit the Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation charity. Print shops can supply basic identification guides and other materials to use during organized nature-spotting outings like this.

This chance to meet some cheerful and friendly chickadees, along with other birds that brave the cold of Saskatchewan winters, will be held on December 28th. A registration link is available on the Cheerful Chickadee Tour Eventbrite listing.
